SHORT SCRIPT BLUEPRINT (30-60 SECONDS)
THE GOLDEN RULE: ONE IDEA, ONE VIDEO
You have 60 seconds. Pick ONE insight, pattern, mistake, hack, or question and own it. Don't try to teach 5 things.
THE FIVE SHORT-FORM FORMULAS
1. QUICK TIP / HACK
- 0:00-0:05 Hook: "Here's something most creators miss..."
- 0:05-0:40 Tip: Deliver the hack or insight in super-clear steps.
- 0:40-0:50 Payoff: Show the result or benefit.
- 0:50-0:60 CTA: "Save this. Comment below." or "Try this and tell me what happens."
- Example: "The #1 Mistake in Thumbnails (That Kills Clicks)"
2. MYTH BUSTER / CALL-OUT
- 0:00-0:05 Hook: "Nobody talks about this, but..."
- 0:05-0:40 Myth: State the false belief, then the truth.
- 0:40-0:50 Proof: One stat, example, or piece of evidence.
- 0:50-0:60 CTA: "Drop a 🧢 if you believed this."
- Example: "YouTube Algorithm Change No One's Talking About"
3. BEFORE/AFTER / TRANSFORMATION
- 0:00-0:10 Hook: "Watch what changed when I..."
- 0:10-0:45 Transformation: Side-by-side or sequence showing the shift.
- 0:45-0:55 Insight: Why it changed, what you learned.
- 0:55-0:60 CTA: "Try this yourself."
- Example: "I Tested 5 Title Formulas. Here's What Won."
4. HOT TAKE / OPINION
- 0:00-0:05 Hook: "Unpopular opinion: ..."
- 0:05-0:45 Take: Bold statement with quick reasoning.
- 0:45-0:55 The Case: One example that proves your point.
- 0:55-0:60 CTA: "Agree or disagree? Comment below."
- Example: "Posting Frequency Doesn't Matter (Here's What Does)"
5. QUESTION / CHALLENGE
- 0:00-0:05 Hook: "Ask yourself this..."
- 0:05-0:40 Question + Context: Pose the real question creators aren't asking themselves.
- 0:40-0:55 The Answer: Quick breakdown of why it matters.
- 0:55-0:60 CTA: "Answer in the comments."
- Example: "Do You Even Know Your Audience's Pain Point?"
THE SHORT-FORM COMMANDMENTS
- TEXT OVERLAY IS YOUR FRIEND. Words on screen grab attention in the first 2 seconds.
- EDIT FAST. New visual element every 3-5 seconds. Montage-style pacing keeps eyes locked.
- NO MUSIC PAUSES. Energy stays high or is deliberately intentional (pause for effect).
- ZOOM IN AND OUT. A simple zoom during emphasis feels cinematic and keeps eyes engaged.
- USE PATTERN INTERRUPTS. Cut to a full screen text overlay, a graphic, your shocked face—something unexpected.
- SOUND EFFECTS MATTER. A whoosh, bell, or impact sound on key moments doubles engagement.
- HOOK IN THE FIRST 3 SECONDS. This is non-negotiable.
THE PRODUCTION FORMULA
- [VISUAL] — Footage, screen share, animation, or text overlay.
- [MUSIC CHANGE] — Shift intensity or style.
- [SFX] — Quick sound (whoosh, ding, pop).
- Text on screen (bold, readable).
- Voice (energetic, clear, punchy).
SOUND STRATEGY FOR SHORTS
- Music: Trending audio is fine, but ORIGINAL music or a consistent signature sound makes you stand out.
- Voice: Clear, energetic, no mumblings. Shorts viewers have sound OFF 70% of the time, so text + visual carries it.
- Silence: A 1-2 second pause for effect before the payoff. Powerful.
THE THREE CTA PATTERNS THAT WORK
- The Save/Share: "Save this. You'll need it later."
- The Debate: "Agree or disagree? Drop your take below."
- The Challenge: "Try this and show me the results."
THE CHECKLIST BEFORE POSTING
- Hook lands in first 3 seconds?
- One clear idea that I own?
- Visual changes every 3-5 seconds?
- Text is readable on mobile?
- Payoff is clear and satisfying?
- CTA invites engagement (comment, save, share)?
- Energy matches the content (hot take = intense, tip = helpful)?
- Video works with sound OFF?
- Pacing feels fast, not rushed?
- I'd stop scrolling to watch this?
