# TITLE WRITING MASTERCLASS

THE THREE CORE RULES

  • Make it ABOUT YOUR NICHE, not generic YouTube advice. Your title should make someone in your niche perk up and think "oh, that's for me."
  • Lead with CURIOSITY or SPECIFICITY. Use a hook word (How, Why, The Secret, Revealed, etc.) or a number/specific claim to stop the scroll.
  • Keep it UNDER 60 CHARACTERS for desktop, under 40 for mobile. YouTube truncates long titles—make the first 5 words count.

2. Listicle Formula: "The [Number] [Niche-Specific] [Things] Every [Audience] Needs to Know" - Example: "The 7 Email Secrets Every SaaS Founder Should Master"

3. Question Formula: "Is [Common Belief] Killing Your [Niche Pain Point]?" - Example: "Is Generic Content Killing Your YouTube Growth?"

4. Challenge/Dare Formula: "[Dare/Challenge] Yourself to [Action] in [Timeframe]" - Example: "Challenge Yourself to Write 10 Video Scripts in 7 Days"

5. Myth-Buster Formula: "Why [Popular Belief] Is Actually [Opposite Truth]" - Example: "Why More Content Isn't Always Better (And What Works Instead)"

6. Story/Breakthrough Formula: "How I [Achieved Big Result] by [Unusual Method]" - Example: "How I Generated 50M Views Using a Counterintuitive Framework"

7. Comparison Formula: "[Option A] vs [Option B]: Which Is Better for [Niche]?" - Example: "Solo Creator vs. Agency: Which Path Grows Faster?"

8. Behind-the-Scenes Formula: "What [Big Creator] Does Differently (That You Can Copy)" - Example: "What Top Creators Don't Tell You About Consistency"

9. Review/Analysis Formula: "I Analyzed [Big Dataset]. Here's What Actually Works." - Example: "I Analyzed 1000 Viral Videos. Here's What They Have in Common"

10. News/Timely Formula: "[Urgent Reason] to [Take Action] Right Now" - Example: "YouTube Algorithm Changed (Here's How to Adapt)"

THE POWER WORDS THAT CONVERT

  • Curiosity triggers: Secret, Revealed, Finally, The Truth About, Why Nobody Talks About, Proven
  • Urgency triggers: Now, Finally, At Last, Before It's Too Late, Don't Miss
  • Specificity triggers: The [Number], Exactly, Precisely, Real (as in "Real Results")
  • Benefit triggers: Fast, Quick, Easy, Simple, Unexpected, Counterintuitive

HOW TO MAKE YOUR TITLES YOURS

  1. List your 4 niche keywords. Every title should naturally include at least one.
  2. Write 3 headlines per formula type. You'll spot patterns in what feels right.
  3. Test on your ideal viewer. Does it make them lean in, or scroll past?
  4. Avoid clickbait that doesn't deliver. Your thumbnail and opening need to match the title promise.
  5. Mix formula types across your channel. If every title is "How To," they blur together.

THE CHECKLIST BEFORE YOU PUBLISH

  • [ ] Is it specific to my niche (not generic)?
  • [ ] Does it spark curiosity or promise a clear benefit?
  • [ ] Under 60 characters?
  • [ ] Does the first 5 words work if the rest gets cut off?
