Long Script Blueprint (8-15 Minutes)
# LONG SCRIPT BLUEPRINT (8-15 MINUTES)
THE STRUCTURE THAT WORKS (HOLD IT LIKE A RELIGION)
Every long-form video script has 5 sections. Master this, and you've mastered YouTube.
SECTION 1: HOOK (0:00-0:30) - **Your job:** Stop the scroll, promise the payoff, make them lean in. - **The magic:** First 5 seconds are CRITICAL. If they're not interested in second 5, they're gone. - **Pattern that works:** Open with curiosity ("I'm about to show you..."), bold claim ("This changed everything..."), or problem ("Are you making this mistake?"). - **Length:** 20-30 seconds max. - **b-roll:** Show something visually interesting—don't just talk to the camera.
SECTION 2: CONTEXT/SETUP (0:30-2:00) - **Your job:** Ground the viewer. Why does this matter? Who is this for? What will they learn? - **The magic:** Build credibility. Drop a stat, tell a quick story, explain the pain point you're solving. - **Pattern that works:** "Here's why this matters..." or "I used to think..." or "Most people don't realize..." - **Length:** 1-2 minutes. - **b-roll:** B-roll that supports your story (if telling a personal story) or demonstrates the problem.
SECTION 3: MEAT/TEACHING (2:00-11:00) - **Your job:** Deliver the value. This is where the viewer learns something new. - **The magic:** Break it into digestible chunks. 3-5 main points, numbered or labeled. - **Pattern that works:** - Point 1 (with example or demonstration) - Point 2 (with example or demonstration) - Point 3 (with example or demonstration) - [Optional Point 4 or 5 if adding value] - **Length:** 7-10 minutes (the bulk of your video). - **b-roll:** Heavy. Demonstration, examples, graphics, screen shares, clips. - **Pacing:** New visual element every 5-10 seconds. No long stretches of you talking.
SECTION 4: REAL-WORLD APPLICATION (11:00-13:00) - **Your job:** Make it relevant. Show how they actually use this. - **The magic:** Case study, before/after, or step-by-step walkthrough of your method in action. - **Pattern that works:** "Here's how I applied this..." or "Watch what happened when..." - **Length:** 2-3 minutes. - **b-roll:** Footage of real implementation, results, or transformation.
SECTION 5: CLOSING & CTA (13:00-15:00) - **Your job:** Recap, inspire action, and funnel them to your next step. - **The magic:** Quick summary of the 3 key takeaways, a call-to-action (subscribe, click link, comment), and a tease of the next video. - **Pattern that works:** - Key takeaway #1 - Key takeaway #2 - Key takeaway #3 - CTA (early soft ask at 1:30, middle value ask at 5:00, end hard ask at 13:00) - Tease next video or recommend related video - **Length:** 1-2 minutes. - **b-roll:** Visually calm. Your face, graphics, end screen.
THE TONE THAT WORKS
- Conversational, not scripted. You're teaching a friend, not reading a textbook.
- Use contractions: "I've" not "I have," "don't" not "do not."
- Short sentences with impact. Long rambling sentences lose viewers.
- Pause for effect. Silence is your friend. Write [PAUSE] into your script when it matters.
- Name-drop examples. Specific case studies and examples beat generic statements.
THE PRODUCTION CUES YOU NEED
- [B-ROLL] — Cut to visual footage or screen shares.
- [GRAPHIC] — Motion graphic, stat card, text overlay, or animation.
- [PAUSE] — Beat of silence. Let something land.
- [MUSIC CHANGE] — Shift the audio mood or intensity.
- [SFX] — Sound effect (whoosh, bell, impact sound).
- [VISUAL TRANSITION] — Jump cut, wipe, or dissolve.
YOUR VOICE & STYLE
- Record one section at a time. Don't try to nail the whole 15 minutes in one take.
- Match your energy level to the topic. Teaching intense strategy? Lean intense. Sharing a story? Lean warm.
- Use Jeremy's voice: Confident but approachable. Teaching from experience, not lecturing. A little humor or self-deprecation goes far.
- Vary your vocal delivery. Pace speeds up when exciting, slows down when important. Emphasis on key words.
